Israel escalates ground and air assaults on Gaza amid deepening humanitarian crisis

Israel has intensified its ground and aerial operations across Gaza, with artillery shelling and airstrikes targeting multiple areas in Khan Younis in the southern part of the besieged territory.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported the death of a Palestinian child following the disruption of medical services caused by an Israeli strike on the al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. The attack has drawn widespread international condemnation.

In a separate development, Yemeni officials reported that U.S. airstrikes near Sanaa killed six people and injured 20 others. These strikes follow claims by Yemen's Houthi rebel group of missile attacks on Israel’s main airport.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 50,983 Palestinians have been confirmed killed and 116,274 wounded since Israel began its military campaign. The Government Media Office later updated the death toll to more than 61,700, noting that thousands remain buried under rubble and are presumed dead.

On the Israeli side, at least 1,139 people were killed and over 200 taken hostage during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023.
